Exploration and Analysis of the Development and Application of Prestressed Technology in Highway Bridge Construction

With the rapid economic development, China’s highway and bridge construction has achieved remarkable progress and refinement, and engineering construction technology has also seen substantial improvement. Prestressed technology has undergone continuous enhancement and maturation during this process, gradually becoming an indispensable key technology in highway bridge construction. In an era of ever-advancing science and technology, prestressed technology, with its unique advantages, is poised to embrace even broader development prospects. It will not only further extend the service life of highway bridges but also continuously elevate their quality standards. Therefore, in the construction process of highway bridges, we must closely monitor construction procedures in line with actual conditions to ensure the scientific soundness and rationality of construction plans. Simultaneously, we need to enhance the professional competence of construction personnel and accumulate practical experience to promote the wider application of prestressed technology in highway bridge construction, thereby achieving rapid development in both economic and social benefits.

The revision work for bridge prestressing industry standards has been initiated, leading the way toward standardized development in the sector.

Recently, the revision of the Technical Specifications for Prestressed Construction of Highway Bridges, led by the Highway Science Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport, has officially commenced. This revision will incorporate advancements in new technologies, materials, and construction techniques within the field of bridge prestressing in recent years, aiming to further improve the standard system and guide the industry toward standardized and high-quality development. Since its implementation in 2015, the original specifications have served as a crucial technical foundation for prestressed construction of highway bridges in China. However, with the rapid development of industry technologies, certain provisions have become inadequate in meeting engineering demands under new circumstances.
