Hezhou-Baise Expressway

Hezhou-Baise Expressway

The Hezhou–Bama Expressway, a vital component of the "Horizontal Route 3" in Guangxi's "6 Horizontal, 7 Vertical, 8 Branch" expressway network plan, starts in the east at Zhongshan County, Hezhou City, and extends west to Bama Yao Autonomous County, Hechi City. Passing through 7 prefecture-level cities and 14 counties (districts), it is constructed as a four-lane, two-way expressway with a design speed of 100 km/h. The route is divided into six sections for construction: Zhongshan–Zhaoping, Zhaoping–Mengshan, Mengshan–Xiangzhou, Xiangzhou–Laibin, Laibin–Du’an, and Du’an–Bama. Construction of the Zhongshan–Zhaoping section began in late December 2015. In September 2019, the Zhongshan–Zhaoping section opened to traffic. In October 2020, the Zhaoping–Mengshan section commenced operation. In December 2021, Phase I of the Mengshan–Xiangzhou section and the Xiangzhou section of Phase II were opened. In 2022, the approach bridges on both sides of the Peisen Liu River Bridge were completed. In December of the same year, three additional sections, including Mengshan–Toupai, were opened to traffic. In June 2023, after the entire route was fully connected, it became Guangxi’s first expressway to adopt the "double-layer continuous paving" technology and to feature a continuous rigid-frame bridge with corrugated steel webs. The renovation project of the Tonggu Interchange was completed in January 2025, marking the full completion of the entire expressway project.
